šŸ’„HOMEMADE CHICKEN SHAWARMA . This is how to make the classic chicken shawarma in your home oven. The chicken come out so juicy, so flavorful, and it makes for easy meals all week long. . Here is how to make it: . 1.Start with 2.5 lbs of boneless chicken thighs. Trim off any excess fat to the extent you’d like. Add it to a bowl. . 2.Season the chicken well. Add 2-3 tablespoons olive oil, 3-4 pinches of salt, fresh cracked pepper, 2 tbsp of plain yogurt, the juice of 1/2 large lemon. Then add 1 tbsp thyme, 1.5 tbsp garlic powder, 1 tbsp smoked paprika, 1/2 tbsp Aleppo pepper, 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper, 1/2 tsp turmeric, 1/2 tsp cumin, 1/4 tsp cardamom, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1/8 tsp nutmeg. These seasonings are ideal, but if you don’t have cardamom or nutmeg, its all good! Feel free to adjust to your liking. . 3. Mix it super well, then thinly slice 1/2 large red onion and mix it in with the chicken. You ideally let this marinate for 2-6 hours, but even better overnight, but if you want to make it right away, you can. . 4.When you’re ready to make it, remove the chicken from the fridge and let it come up to room temp (about 30 mins). Preheat your oven to 425F then pack the marinated chicken tightly into a bread loaf pan (about 8.5x4.5x2.5). Pop it into the oven for 45-55 mins at 425F. . 5.Remove the chicken from the oven, tilt the pan over a glass bowl or container to pour out the excess juices (save the juice to use as broth or to pour over the chicken). . 6.Flip the loaf pan onto a cutting board to remove the chicken and cut it into thin slices or strips. . 7.Serve it up however way you want - as is, on top of a salad, on a power bowl, whatever! This stays well in the fridge in an airtight lid for 4-5 days. . I made a delicious lowcarb high protein chicken shawarma bowl with my @Kaizen Food Company lowcarb rice and it was SO Good. . RECIPEšŸ‘‡ INGREDIENTS: This LEAN recipe is one of my current lunch/dinner staples. Packed with a range of micronutrients & abundant in fibre, it has helped me nourish while I heal & get back into shape during postpartum. CRISPY CHICKPEAS & HOT HONEY HALLOUMI SALAD For the crispy chickpeas: -400g can chickpeas, drained -1/2 teaspoon sweet paprika or taste -1/2 teaspoon garlic powder or to taste -Sea salt, to taste For the honey halloumi: -1 tablespoon olive oil -250g halloumi, diced -1 tablespoon honey -chilli flakes, to taste Rest of the salad ingredients: -4 handfuls spinach, roughly chopped - 2 cups finely diced cucumber -1 avocado, roughly chopped -1/4 red onion, finely diced, soaked in water (to get rid off the pungent taste) -1/2 cup pomegranate seeds -small bunch mint leaves & parsley sprigs , finely chopped For the dressing: -2 tablespoons EVOO -juice of 1/2 lemon or to taste -black pepper & sea salt, to taste (be careful with salt as halloumi tends to be salty) -1 teaspoon tahini or to taste -Stevia, to taste (for sweetness/ optional) METHOD: 1. Cover the chickpeas in the sweet paprika & garlic powder, add sea salt to taste. Toss until well covered & bake in the oven or air fryer for 15mins on 200°C 2. Fry the halloumi in a heated non-stick pan until slightly brown, then pour in the honey & sprinkle on the chilli flakes. Fry until a little more golden & crispy. Use medium to high heat! 3. Mix the salad ingredients together. Add the cooled down chickpeas & halloumi, pour the dressing over, mix well & enjoy Extra notes: -You can enjoy this salad as it is, or with crackers/ couscous for more energy. -I stored the salad in the fridge overnight, it tasted lovely the next day. However; halloumi does tend to get tough if not consumed straight away. If you want to avoid that just prep the rest of the salad & add the halloumi fresh before consumption. -Leafy greens tent to get soggy when stored, even though chickpeas soak a lot of water from the rest of the salad in this case. To avoid this add leafy greens before consumption or consume leftover within 24hrs. #hothoneyhalloumi #chickpeasalad #highprotein

Perfect for meal prep and weight lossšŸ¤ŒšŸ½ Macros Per Serving (5 Total) 553 Calories | 46g Protein | 48g Carbs | 19g Fat Ingredients (Makes 5) Chicken Shawarma - 1000g Boneless Skinless Chicken Thighs - 30g Minced Garlic - 2 Tsp Salt - 2 Tsp Black Pepper - 2 Tsp Smoked Paprika (or regular paprika) - 2 Tsp Onion Powder - 1.5 Tsp Cumin - 1.5 Tsp Cinnamon - 1.5 Tsp Sumac - 3 Tsp Olive Oil - Juice of 3/4 Lemon * Oven bake or Air Fry for 20 mins at 200C/400F + Broil for 3-4 mins to give a good char * Once cooked, let it rest 4-5mins then chop into cubes - use all the flavorful juices left in the pan! Fragrant Golden Yellow Rice - 20g Reduced Fat Butter - 35g Minced Garlic - 200g White Onion, finely chopped - 1 Tsp Turmeric - 1 Tsp Smoked Paprika - 1 Tsp Salt - 250g Uncooked Basmati Rice - 600g Water * Cook garlic and onion on medium low heat for 5-6 mins till softened and fragrant, then add spices and uncooked rice. Toast for 2-3 mins before adding water * Bring to a light bubble then cover with a lid, simmer for 10-12 mins or until fully cooked.
